HCC @MVP Meet Details
July 5th
Hello! Hope everyone had a safe and relaxing 4th of July. Tomorrow, HCC takes on MVP in our 4th meet. Here is the information from MVP:
Pool Location/Directions Our pool is located on Whitehaven Parkway, on the Mount Vernon campus of George Washington University (GWU), in northwest Washington, DC. Whitehaven Parkway runs between Foxhall Road and MacArthur Boulevard. For GPS, the address is 2100 Foxhall Rd NW, Washington, DC 20007. After turning onto Whitehaven Parkway from Foxhall Rd, take your first right into the driveway onto the GWU campus and then your first left into the parking garage. You will need to pull a ticket, but there is no charge for parking on the weekends.
Parking
Although the parking garage will accommodate a good number of cars, we ask that families try to carpool to conserve space if at all possible (we will ask our families to do the same). If the lot is full, you can park on Whitehaven or W Street (behind the campus) as long as there are no signs restricting parking.
Pool/Pool Area
We swim at a 6-lane outdoor 25 meter pool. Two of the four legs of the 8 & U Free Relay will start in the water.
Our pool area is quite small, so this is probably not the best meet for extended family, friends, etc. to attend. We suggest you bring chairs and canopies, as the visiting team area gets full sun during the morning.
**They are serious when they say it's a small area. I remember it being very, very small when we were there 8 years ago. Be prepared to be best friends with the person sitting in a chair next to you.**
We will have a concession area selling food and drinks. The concession stand accepts cash and credit.
Meet Details
HCC warm-ups will be from 7:55-8:15. HCC swimmers should arrive by 7:30 a.m. HCC visited this pool in 2016 and it's a little walk from the parking garage to the pool so be there early!
The scratch meeting, officials' meeting, and timers' meeting will start around 8:00.
The national anthem will be at 8:25, and the meet will start at 8:30.
