HCC Gator - Time Trial Info

Good Morning,

As previously mentioned, our time trial is scheduled for Saturday, June 11th. This is a chance for your child(en) to get a recorded time in most events without any pressure of trying to win. It’s a great opportunity to see where you swimmer starts the season and then to watch their progress throughout the season. A few important details for all of you are listed below. Indian Head Swim Team (IHST) will also be part of the time trial as well. We don’t swim against them during the regular season and we try to be good friends with all of our County teams.

Here are some important things/announcements to remember:

  • I am looking for National Anthem singers for June 11th, 18th, 25th. If your child is interested, please reply to this email.
  • If you have not declared your swimmer, do so now. We still have 44 kids undeclared.
  • Our guppy swimmers are invited to swim on Saturday. Please arrive no later than 10:30 a.m.. We’ll take a break and have an assisted swim for our new guppies. We’ve also invited any IHST guppies to.
  • After each home meet, the team meets at Foster’s in LP. Feel free to stop by and eat. Or grab food to go. If you come, tell them you’re with the GATORS. This is a fundraiser for the team.
  • The time trial will start at 8:30 a.m., but the warm ups will begin at 7:40 a.m. Warm up times are as follows:

7:40 – 7:50 – 13/14 and 15-18 age groups

7:50 – 8:00 – 11/12, 9/10 and 8U age groups (no guppies)

  • Please make sure your child is on time for their warm ups. They cannot swim with another age group. Being ready means they have their cap and goggles on ready to enter the pool when the coach gives them the ok.
  • In prior years, many parents liked to arrive really early to the pool. Please, please be respectful of your warm up time and arrive 5-10 minutes before the warm up time. In order for us to have some sort of controlled chaos, please follow this rule. The pool will not open to the team until 7:15 a.m. There are parents there early who are setting up and trying to get ready. Please be respectful.
  • If you signed up to be an official, your meeting is at 8:00 a.m. and if you signed up to be a timer, your meeting will be at 8:10 a.m.
  • Our pool setup for time trials will be the same as a regular meet. Swimmers and their families will sit on the side by the baby pool/deep end.
  • The grassy area by the gazebo will be used for the opposing team (IHST). Gators should not be in this area. Families may sit in the tennis courts if they would be more comfortable.
  • Don't forget your tents and chairs. Many swimmers show up without a chair and then begin using other swimmers chairs. If you or your swimmer want to sit down, bring a chair. We put the HCC chairs and loungers outside of the pool deck so those are not available to use. And share your tent space with others. We’re one team and we need to accommodate everyone.
  • Please remind your swimmers that they should not be using the pool to clean their feet, shoes or anything else. The pool should only be used to swim in. Swimmers should only put their body in when they’re swimming. No splashing while waiting their turn to swim.
  • Out of respect for all swimmers, we do not allow drums or other noise makers after the meet starts.
  • Volunteers: Thank you for all those who have signed up to volunteer on Saturday. We still have a few open spots. We’ve never had to force volunteers and with a team of over 200+ kids, this should be really easy. Please consider helping out!
  • 50/50 Raffle: Bring your cash, our 50/50 raffles are legendary! We don’t expect anything different this year!!
  • Gator Bar: Our snack bar will be open during the entire time trials. Be sure to grab a hotdog, hamburger or a famous walking taco! Mike the Taco Man is back and so are our grilling dads!
  • The playground and baby pool are CLOSED for use during the meet. This is for the safety of all children, including those children not swimming.
  • If your child has any type of injury that requires them to use tape or has a cast (and plans to swim), please let us know now by replying to this email.
  • When you arrive to the pool on Saturday morning, we will have some awesome parking assistants to assist you. Please follow their directions so you can be safely parked.
  • **The meet program will be sent out Friday evening and also posted at the pool. The meet program will have the events your child is swimming. You will want to put (with a sharpie marker) the event numbers your child is swimming on their hand. This helps the swimmer and those assisting with getting kids to the right event/lane.

Brats and Beers are tonight! They’re grilling dogs, brats and it’s sure to be fun! Take an evening away from cooking and eat at the pool!

Other reminders: team pic is after the meet on June 25th. A sign up genius went out about individual pics. It came from Jessica Carbone. Sign up if you want individual pics taken.

Thanks!

Megan
